The market bridges the village centre to the east with the new residences to the west. At low tide the two halves of the bridge remain connected, but as the water rises the central platform opens and the outer skins slide back to enable boats to pass.
The market interior houses kiosks and stalls run by those local to Faversham, Kent. The building’s material is born of the Oare Creek’s landscape. Centrally, a bamboo garden sits, out of which the building’s frame was built and will be maintained. To each edge, paths line the bridge offering views up and down the river.
These elevations show the market bridge's adaptation to the rising and falling tide levels.
