Museum of The Glasgow Style

Project details

Programme
Unit UG2
Year 2

As technology continues to rapidly advance, architecture in Glasgow is beginning to lose the biophilic qualities that define its heritage. Buildings now display little or no relation to aspects of history and nature that outline much of our human experience.

As we approach an era of artificial intelligence, the technology we create is beginning to resemble the neural connections of the human brain. This artificial intelligence is referred to as ‘style transfer’ and the algorithmic process simulates sight and perception as experienced by human beings.

In this project, style transfer is used to reunite Glasgow’s West End with a familiar and uncanny interpretation of The Glasgow Style through artificial intelligence. The programme is a ground floor market space with upper wings and a hall utilised as an exhibition space reserved for The Glasgow Style, both contemporary and classical.

Style Transfer Process

Style transfer technology brings qualities of Glaswegian architecture and applies them to the building geometry.
