Oasis: Holistic Therapy Centre

Project details

A project for a therapy clinic that focuses on the body and mind. The clinic incorporates hydro, plant and physical therapy, and more conventional therapy facilities such as psychotherapy.

The heart of the clinic is the water collected from the rain, which reveals itself while people travel through the building. Patients interact with nature, their senses, and the surrounding architecture to support the healing process.

Located in Kentish Town, London, the site is a disused grass field with no specific purpose. To retain that character, the ground floor and garden are open to the neighbourhood, allowing local residents access to the garden and facilities, which includes ad-hoc mental health help and a teashop.

Sprinkle of Magic

The building invites people to enter through the grassy door and sit under the scents of the teashop and the garden. When it rains the façade turns into a moving performance.

By the Water

Mobile fountain with lights and elements diffuses water in different states. A glimpse into the floating pool reveals a stream that leads to the garden.

Patients’ Teashop

The teashop is led by clinic patients to reduce feelings of isolation and connect them with the neighbourhood. The teashop is supplied with herbs from the garden.
