This project is an unconventional Montessori school for students with autism. The project recreates the house described in the poem ‘Facing the Sea with Spring Blossom’ by the Chinese poet Haizi, whose autism informed his work. The school is in a coastal village in Shenzhen that best fits the scenery described in the poem. The school encourages children to make their own learning choices, inspires them to find their interests and potential, and assists them in making a successful transition into future education and life.
